Abstract

Entering upon 200 year’s publication of Hegel’s Phenomenology of Spirit  as the most prominent piece of work of philosophy, this article discusses insights covered in the work. What actual and contextual relevance are worth noticing as critical review on the development of philosophical intention and projection. Through textual analysis on the language of the work, and supported reviewers’ comments on the work, the writer continues of discuss the contextual insights appealing to elaborate concerning the revival of metaphysical and ontological discourse being the core activity of philosophy in order to gain complete understanding of the meaning of reality. In the second insight, the writer presents attempts to differentiate several philosophical orientations that are currently known with the prefix “post.- ...” such as post-modern, post-colonial, post-strucural  and post-cultural. His distinction reveals the relevance of philosophical endeavours that are challenging at present in an attempt to begin a new orientation therefore a reappraisal of the orientation of modern philosophy in general. In summary, it is intended to show that after 200 years following the publication of the first Phenomenology of Spirit, we still can obtain valuable insights with regard to philosophical discourse challenge in the midst of an era where philosophy itself is experiencing the hardest challenge ever.`
