Analisis Antropologis atas Masalah Pertanahan di Papua

Abstract

Land conflict is one of the many complicated conflicts in Papua. There are two kinds of conflict that take place vertically and horizontally. The first is the conflict between people against government and people against businessmen. The second is the conflict among people against themselves, native people against foreigners or immigrants. Basically this is a cognitive conflict that runs in mythical and psychological dimensions which are inseparable of economic interests of individuals of clans. Formally, there is a legal conflict between tribal laws and the national law.  

The other cardinal problem engendering a difficult situation to discuss the problem rationally is about the sustainability of the existence of Papuans. Then, this incites polarity among people, the exploitation of resources, the rumour of ethnic cleansing and so on. These problems might bring up political conundrum such as special autonomy and the existence of Papua in Indonesia. Thus, land conflict is not just the problem of land but also problems of cosmology, economy, pschycology, culture, politics, law, etc. Land problem is also a problem of humanity.
