Identitas Budaya Balim dalam Festifal Budaya

Abstract

Talking about Balim tourism always entails three elements, that is, its beautiful landscape, cultural exoticism, and the tribal war festival. In this regent, tourism relies much on that festival. However, it may be questioned. Why does the tribal war-like festival become the pivot of tourism? Has not the war been banned since the presence of the Dutch? There are two related explanations. Firstly, the tribal war is intertwined with Balim culture. Secondly, in term of tourism, it is held to be part of the cultural exoticism which is worth offered. The interaction between tourism and local culture, then, generates moments bearing plenty of meaning and gains financial advantages particularly when the tradition is well modified
